Thanksgiving leftovers are wonderful in so many ways. After all we know that even with careful planning, there are bound to be Thanksgiving leftovers. The tough part during the holidays can be deciding what exactly to do with all those Thanksgiving leftovers. Here are some suggestions for your Thanksgiving leftovers.

You are no longer stuck eating Thanksgiving leftovers simply as sandwiches or repeat plates. Use these recipe ideas to create whole, brand new main dishes and even meals from your Thanksgiving leftovers.

Casseroles:

Casseroles make terrific dishes. You can combine virtually any Thanksgiving meat, including Thanksgiving leftover turkey with rice. Spice with pepper, garlic and oregano. Use the Thanksgiving leftover gravy to mix in with the rice and turkey. You can leave the rice raw and add water to bake the casserole. You can cook the rice and mix the ingredients together for a quick microwave casserole dish.

Pot Pie:

Pot pie is one of my favorite dishes to make from Thanksgiving leftovers. Use a pie crust that is half baked. In a large bowl mix Thanksgiving leftover turkey, gravy and basic vegetables such as corn, carrots, peas, spinach, green beans and more. Add some chopped onion, black pepper, rubbed sage and garlic to taste. Stir well.

Place all the ingredients in the half baked pie crust. Cover the pie dish with an unbaked pie crust. This is a great recipe because you can use both pie crusts that normally come in packs of two. Pinch the edges together. Make an X in the center. Bake at 450 degrees F until the crust is brown.

Thanksgiving leftovers turned into a delicious pot pie can be a great meal to eat because you have your meat, carbohydrates and vegetables all in one dish. There is no need to fix other things, except maybe a delicious desert!

Vegetable Energy Drink:

There are times that we simply have tons of vegetables left over from the veggie trays. These Thanksgiving leftover veggie trays take up a great deal of room in the refrigerator. Once the Thanksgiving football games are over and done with, there is little temptation to sit down and snack on the veggies. A perfect solution for Thanksgiving leftover veggie plates are vegetable energy drinks. Puree the veggies with a little salt-substitute and dash of garlic. Voila, you have terrific energy drink and more room in your refrigerator! This recipe freezes well so you can enjoy it long after the holidays.

Pumpkin Pie Moose:

Who can resist pumpkin pie moose. It is so easy to make! This is a great way to use up Thanksgiving leftover pumpkin pie without being burned out on eating piece after piece of pie. You can also use this for sweet potato Thanksgiving leftovers.

In a blender combine regular or sugar free whipped topping and your pumpkin pie. Do 3 parts pumpkin pie for 1 part whipped topping. Instantly you have a pumpkin pie or sweet potato moose that is delicious, cool and refreshing to enjoy after Thanksgiving. This recipe freezes well so you can enjoy it long after the holidays.

Thanksgiving Left Over Pizza:

You can make your very own home made pizza using the left over foods from your Thanksgiving meal! Use a pre-made pizza crust and little Alfredo sauce or red sauce on the crust. Rummage through the refrigerator and take turkey, ham, veggies and other items to make a delicious pizza. You can even add pineapple slices to the pizza to give it a new flavor twist. These pizzas are both fun to make and to eat!

Cranberry Smoothie:

I can’t tell you how many times, I used to throw away left over cranberry sauce. It won’t keep until the next holiday. It didn’t really go with anything that I was eating after Thanksgiving. Then I saw a simple recipe for a cranberry smoothie. Now, cranberry is never wasted in my home!

Simply take 2 parts cranberry sauce, 1 part yogurt, and enough milk to make the right consistency. Put into a smoothie maker or blender. These are absolutely delicious and healthy. You can even chop up a banana to make it sweeter. If you have a lot left over, cranberry smoothies freeze well.

These are some ideas for Thanksgiving leftovers that you can enjoy. They are simple and will keep you from getting bored with repeated Thanksgiving leftover plates or turkey sandwiches. Also, you’re not stuck making a million different soup variations.
